Evaleasy
Evaleasy is a web application that assists teachers in the assignment grading process. Students receive understandable feedback, clear grade breakdown, and can ask for a review, among other substantial features.
Project duration
July - November 2022.
Student: “It would be great to receive clear feedback about each evaluated point on my assignments.”
Aracely is a busy student and employee who needs to know how her grade is broken down because she wants to correct her mistakes.
Accessibility
- The level of accessibility of the existing contrast between the texts and their backgrounds was verified.
- Some transparencies were removed, which reduced the legibility of certain buttons.
- In addition to the possibility of offering translation in different languages, the design of buttons with iconography was implemented; to make the actions they trigger intuitive.
- The hierarchical structure in the text style was taken into account; to facilitate its implementation in HTML and the use of screen readers and other assistive technologies.
Takeaways
- The COVID-19 pandemic has generated a great need for efficient remote technologies. The education sector is one of the main actors that require them.
- Evaleasy responds by offering an effective online software, which provides a simple, agile, robust, and secure experience; that satisfies teachers and students.
- In this process, I had to work on satisfying two users with different needs in the same system. The complexity of meeting the needs of students and teachers was a great challenge, which required generating certain agreements that became functions for the benefit of both.
Next steps
This software is scalable and adaptable. Some universities may have different needs or require customization; this system is flexible enough to meet those expectations.
The idea is to continue improving the system to generate a similar experience to real-life feedback. The app should be able to build a conversation like teachers and students have when they're face-to-face, and improve it later.
this system requires frequent usability testing to keep up with the latest needs and functionalities.
